Colorado Radio for Justice supports and enables people impacted by the criminal-legal system in Colorado and beyond. Our producers create and host innovative 24/7 media, beaming music, stories, news, and entertainment that amplifies diverse voices, lived experiences, and creative spirits. We engage listeners and producers who seek resources and respite from the impacts of injustice. At the same time, we invite listeners who believe that they’re not touched by the criminal-legal system to understand and recognize the ways in which they are.
Colorado Radio for Justice springs out of Inside Wire: Colorado Prison Radio, which was the first and only radio station in the world to broadcast 24/7 from inside prisons to the public. Inside Wire operated 2021 to 2023 as a program of the University of Denver Prison Arts Initiative (DU PAI). In 2023, the Colorado Department of Corrections ended its partnership with DU PAI, which forced Inside's Wire's operations to end. Colorado Radio for Justice extends and deepens the important foundations laid by Inside Wire. Learn more about Inside Wire here.
